For more than a decade, Joaquin dedicated himself wholeheartedly to serving the community through his work with United Way California Capital Region. His journey with the organization began as a staff member, where he played a significant role in growing Women United and the Young Leaders Society. Over the years, his passion for service, leadership, and community impact led him to become a dedicated member of the Board of Directors and eventually Chair of the Board.
Those who worked alongside Joaquin say his leadership extended far beyond titles or positions. He led through action, compassion, and a sincere belief in the power of community. He was deeply committed to creating opportunities for people across the Sacramento region and consistently worked to improve the lives of others through meaningful programs and partnerships.
Joaquin was especially passionate about initiatives focused on housing, guaranteed income, and strengthening the region’s future. Friends and colleagues remember how proudly he championed United Way’s 100th Anniversary Campaign and helped shape annual fundraising galas and community initiatives that supported vulnerable families and individuals throughout the region.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Joaquin is being remembered as a kind, generous, and selfless person who truly cared about helping others. He believed deeply in Sacramento’s potential and continually invested his energy into making the community stronger, more compassionate, and more inclusive.
